How to Effectively Stop a Panic Attack

103 13
Panic Attacks can devastate your life, I'm sure this isn't news to you.
You might get a first anxiety attack somewhere, while you were doing something.
And as of that moment, every time you do that thing you will be thinking about an anxiety attack, and might actually get one.
The tricky thing about these attacks is the fear of the fear, the fear that you will have another attack in the future can actually make you more anxious and cause panic attacks.
So an effective way to stop a panic attack is to not add extra fear to the initial anxiety.
Just suppose you feel a panic attack coming on.
What do you normally think? Is it possible you think: "oh no, not now, why is this happening now? What's wrong with me?".
Those are anxious thoughts and anxiety, whatever the cause, will launch the fight or flight response in your body.
That fight or flight response will give you symptoms like a fast beating heart, some nausea etc.
When you feel this, you'll probably think: "see! this problem is serious, I'll have to do something about this, but what? I can't seem to control it...
" thus adding more anxiety.
You will now get a full blown anxiety attack.
Are you with me? Do you see the system here? So the trick to stop an attack is to simply say and think: whatever, I have some symptoms, if I start to think about them, if I get anxious they will only get worse.
I realize this is easier said than done.
