How to Find Wolf Jewelry
- 1). Check at history museum, zoo and animal habitat gift shops. These little specialty shops often offer a wide array of animal-inspired jewelry. A case in point is the Wolf Howl Animal Preserve in Etta, Mississippi, where the folks not only create a habitat for wolves and their pups, but also have a full line of wolf necklaces, pendants and other novelties (see Resources below).
- 2). Go native. American Indian craftsman, and women, will definitely have wolf and other animal-inspired jewelry in their cache. Next time you are around a street or artisan fair that features American Indian crafts, check the selection (see Resources below).
- 3). Shop at animal specialty shops. Animal inspired gifts, clothing and jewelry have become increasingly popular in recent years. Check your local pets shops, novelty stores and specialty boutiques to see if they offer any wolf items. Also check ads in pet and wildlife magazines to see what specialty items are out there.
- 4). Browse gem and mineral shows. Here's where you can often find jewelry made from actual wolf fur, claws or even bones. Tucson, Ariz., has a famous gem and mineral show every year or you can search area novelty and museum or zoo gift shops for such pieces and have it mounted as a jewelry piece by an area jeweler (see Resources below.
- 5). Have it custom made. Many jewelers would be glad to whip up a pendant or pair of earrings based on illustrations or photos you provide. It may be costly, but you're sure to be the only one in town with your unique design. Check with local jewelers and ask them for a referral if they don't make custom pieces.
