How to Make a Fringe Key Chain
- 1). Place the 1/2-by-3 1/2-inch leather strip on a cutting board so the front side of the leather is facing down. Position the strip so the 3 1/2-inch edges are on a horizontal axis.
- 2). Fold the left side of the leather strip to the right approximately 3/4 of an inch. Position the 3/8-inch leather stud within the folded 3/4-inch section. Push the two prongs of the stud into the leather to mark their positions. Remove the stud.
- 3). Insert the end of the craft knife through the two layers of leather at the prong marks. Make the holes just large enough for the leather prongs to go through the leather.
- 4). Unfold the leather strip. Slide the key ring over the punctured end of the strip. Fold the left side of the leather to the right. Line up the holes.
- 5). Turn the leather strip over so the front side is facing you. Insert the prongs of the stud through the two layers of leather. Press the prongs flush with the surface of the leather with a butter knife.
- 6). Turn the leather strip so the 1/2-inch edge is facing you. Cut four 2 1/2-inch strips approximately 1/8 inch wide along the 1/2-inch edge with a pair of sharp pointed scissors.
