What Is Laser Hair Removal?
- There are four different lasers utilized for successful laser hair removal, the Alexandrite Laser, the Diode Laser, the Nd: YAG laser and the Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) laser.
- Each laser is designed to treat specific skin types. Longer wavelength lasers such as the Nd: YAG treats darker skin tones, and shorter wavelength lasers such as the Alexandrite laser treats lighter skin tones.
- Multiple treatments are needed for effective results. Time frame is based on hair growth cycles. Depending on the area being treated, treatments will be spaced anywhere from four to 10 weeks apart.
- About 15 to 20 percent of hair is disabled actively during each session. Once the series is complete, patients experience smooth, hair-free skin with lasting results.
- This treatment greatly benefits those men and women who suffer from embarrassing and sometimes hard-to-reach unwanted hair.
- While laser hair removal may effectively treat patients with all skin types, it is not capable of treating patients with all hair colors. Lasers utilize pigment seeking light, therefore those men and women with blonde, red, gray or white hair will not see effective results.
