- 1). Look underneath the rear bumper of your tow vehicle and locate the hole in the hitch receiver that runs through the hitch. Look through it to make sure there are no obstructions.
- 2). Insert the key in the hitch lock, and take the lock off of the end of the bar. Run the bar through the hole in the hitch until it appears on the other end.
- 3). Put the lock on the end of the bar, and turn the key to lock the hitch lock onto the hitch. Remove the key from the lock. Close the plastic cap on the lock to prevent rust in the lock.
