TRJClxThere are people who are rejected so often in their career. Rejections are the parts of our lives and we have to learn how to cope with them. Although there can be a lot of reasons why you get rejected, there are also a lot of ways to minimize rejections.

You should analyze the reasons of rejections first. It is not about improving yourself or your work. Sometimes even if you are the best candidate or the request is the most acceptable, you can get rejected. If this is the case for you, there is one thing you should know. The truth is you are easy to reject.

 Especially in business, people try to be honest, fair and try to make moral choices. These are some of the properties which a successful people in business should have. But, when it becomes easy for them to skip these properties without knowledge of others, even the best boss or colleague in the world can change their route.

Which one of these, can you reject more easily?

Imagine that you are responsible for the human resources for a company. You have to decide which applicant is the best choice and who will get the job. You receive job application forms, phone calls and you make job interviews with the applicants.
  • When you receive job application form, you can simply place it on top of the rejected forms. No one knows why and you don't have to explain anything to anyone. It's not important if you have made a fair choice or no one will judge your business ethic. People tend to behave out of the rules or common sense more easily, when no one knows about it and they don't need to do much work to reject.
  • When you receive a phone call from one of the applicants, it will be more difficult to reject. You'll be asked for an explanation for your rejection. You cannot just hang up the phone as easily as you rejected the application form. In this case there is someone on the phone who knows your decision and who can judge you, even if the applicant doesn't mention it, you'll feel guilty.
  • When you are making a job interview with an applicant, you have to spend some time to learn about him. It's more difficult to reject from the previous scenarios. You cannot just show the door. He can judge you like on the phone call. When he gets out of your office, one of your colleagues can ask him about the interview. Now there are more people who can judge you or ask you questions. So, you'll have to do much more work.

How you can minimize rejections?

It's not just about a job or business. In every step of your life you should make it difficult for someone to reject you. You can always find a different way for your requests.
  1. Try to make people show their rejection clearly with their words or some kind of action.
  2. Find ways to put much more work to reject.
  3. Focus on the emotions guilt and shame. You can prefer sentences referring these emotions.
  4. You can mention about common sense and how others responded the request generally.
  5. Wait for the right time to make your request. It'll be harder to reject when they are surrounded with people whom they know.
  6. Force them to simply give an exact answer like 'yes' or 'no'.
