- 1). Download the Windows XP Setup Disk file to the second computer. Insert the first disk into the second computer's floppy drive and double-click the Windows XP Setup Disk file icon. When prompted, remove the floppy disk from the drive and insert the next floppy disk. When the Setup Disk file finishes creating the startup disks, remove the final disk from the floppy drive.
- 2). Insert the first floppy disk into the floppy drive on the Toshiba Portege, and turn on computer. When prompted, remove the floppy disk and replace with the next floppy disk. Insert the Windows XP Professional CD into the CD-ROM drive on the Toshiba Portege.
- 3). Press "Enter" at the "Welcome to Setup" screen. Press "F8" to accept the license agreement. Press "D" to delete the previous partition. Press "C" to create a new partition and select "Format the partition using the NTFS file system." Press "Enter" to confirm that you wish to format the hard disk drive.
- 4). Allow Windows Setup to copy the program files to the computer. Remove the floppy disk from the Toshiba Portege floppy drive and allow the computer to reboot.
- 5). Go through the prompts (keep clicking "Next") until Windows prompts you for the product key. Enter the product key into the product key fields and click "Next." Continue going through the prompts until Windows Setup informs you that installation is complete. Allow the computer to reboot itself.
