    • 1). Launch the Registry Editor by clicking the Windows "Start" menu, clicking "Run," typing "regedit" (without quotes) and pressing "Enter."

    • 2). Click the plus symbol ("+") next to the "HKEY_CURRENT_USER" folder to expand it. Expand the "Software" folder, expand the "Microsoft" folder, expand the "Windows" folder, expand the "CurrentVersion" folder, expand the "Explorer" folder and then expand the "Advanced" folder.

    • 3). Right click, select "New" and click "DWORD" to create a new DWORD entry. Name the new entry "TaskbarGroupSize" (without quotes). Double click "TaskbarGroupSize." A new dialog box launches. Type any of the following numbers in the "Value Data" box, depending on the taskbar grouping you want to use:

(Default) Group by age (oldest group first)

1 (Group by size [argest group first])

2 (Group any group of size 2 or more)

3 (Group any group of size 3 or more)

    • 4). Close the registry and restart your computer.
