How to Make Your Eyeliner Go Past Your Eye

    • 1). Sharpen your eyeliner pencil, because a pencil with a sharp point is less likely to smudge and it's easier to draw with.

    • 2). Pull the skin to the outer side of your left eyelid taut. Partially close the left eye but avoid closing it completely because this may cause you to twitch when lining the eye. Lightly tilt your head backward so more of your eyelid is visible in the mirror.

    • 3). Use the pencil to make dots above your left upper eyelash line. Start above the iris and dot the skin all the way to the outer edge of the eye. Work as close as possible to the upper eyelash line.

    • 4). Draw a thin line over your left eyelash by connecting the dots. Follow the natural contour of your eye.

    • 5). Extend the line beyond the outer edge of the eye. Draw a straight line outward or curl the line slightly upward toward the outer edge of your eyebrow. The longer the line the more visible it will be and the more dramatic your eye will look.

    • 6). Thicken the outer part of the line to create a classic look. Line over the outer part of the eyeliner to thicken the line. Your final result must be a line that starts thin at the inner part of the eye and gradually fans out and gets wider.

    • 7). Pat loose, translucent powder over your eyeliner to help it stay in place. Avoid swiping the powder over the eyeliner, because this may smudge it. Repeat the process on your right eye.
