How to Determine Nail Irregularities
- 1). Wavy nails: bumpy or corrugated ridges. These are be buffed down.
Depressions: furrows that run lengthwise or across the nail. These make the nail fragile.
White spots: Due to injury. They grow out with the nail.
Overgrowth: Hypertrophy, caused by a local infection. Makes the nails thick.
Split nail: due to injury, careless filing or excessive polish remover. Apply oil.
Thin nails: Eggshell nails, noticeably thin and bend. Add nail hardener. - 2). Most nail disorders can be covered with artificial nails. If the nail problem is not caused by disease, the manicurist can usually fix the problem. The manicurist can tell you the best way to cover or fix the nail. The disease will not be treated by the manicurist.
