How to Draw Grass Step-by-Step
- 1). Draw a horizontal line across your page using a straight edge. This line forms a horizon and helps you orient the direction of your grass.
- 2). Draw a series of arching lines across the entire portion of the page that you with to cover with grass.
- 3). Beside each arching line, draw a second arching line. Taper this line inward so that it meets the first one in a narrow tip. This completes the outlines for the blades of grass.
- 4). Color inside of each blade with the green color pencil. Leave a small area on the side and tip of each blade blank.
- 5). Color inside of the blank area on each blade with light green to form a highlight.
- 6). Using the dark green color pencil, draw a line down the center of each blade. Lay the pencil tip on its side and shade across this line in a back-and-forth motion to soften it. This center shadow suggests a natural fold in each blade.
- 7). Add a dark green shadow to the base of each blade.
