How to Lace Up a Maggie Sottero Gown

    • 1). Position the mirrors so you can see both the back and front of the dress. Recruit the help of a friend. Most of the Maggie Sottero dresses use flat silk ribbon. You may be able to tie the dress on your own, but it will be too difficult to keep the ribbon flat through each loop.

    • 2). Position the lacing protector so that it is covering your skin. This will prevent your skin from being pinched when you tighten the dress's corset.

    • 3). Count the eyelets on the dress's corset. If the number is odd, start the lace from the underside. If the number is even, start it from the outside. Most Maggie Sottero dresses have an odd number of eyelets and should be started from the underside. Slip the ribbon through the two top eyelets. Ensure that the ends of the ribbon are even.

    • 4). Take the ribbon on the left side and cross it over to the second eyelet on the right side. Then cross the right ribbon over to the second eyelet on the left side. Ensure that the ribbon remains flat and flush with the dress's corset.

    • 5). Take the ribbon on the right side and pull it through the third eyelet on the left side. Take the ribbon on the left side and cross it over to pull it through the third eyelet on the right side. Ensure that the ribbon remains flat.

    • 6). Continue until you reach the end of the dress' corset. Ensure that the ribbon is flat as you pull it through each eyelet. Tighten the corset as you pull the ribbon through each eyelet.

    • 7). When you reach the bottom of the dress's corset the ribbons' ends should be on the outside. The ends should be equal length. Tie a bow and let the ends hang.
