Instructions for Making Scented Oils
- 1). Purchase the essential oil that you will use in your scented oil. Most health food stores and soap making supply stores have a selection of essential oils. You can use one fragrance, or you can create your own by combining more than one.
- 2). Choose suitable bottles to store your scented oil. Colored glass bottles work very well. It is important not to use clear containers -- because light has an adverse effect on many oils -- to the point where it can alter the fragrance.
- 3). Pour the sweet almond oil into the mixing bowl and add the essential oils to it, one drop at a time -- as you stir it with the wire whisk. Add the essential oil slowly. Approximately three drops of essential oil, for each ounce of base oil, will probably give you a pleasant fragrance.
- 4). Dispense the scented oil into the colored bottles with a funnel. Replace the lids on your filled bottles, and then leave them in a dark place for one week. This will give your scented oil time to mature. The oils will combine, resulting in scented oil that is properly infused and ready to be used.
