Actress Ann-Margret had been quoted in a fan magazine as saying, "I want to be the female Elvis Presley."

In 1963, Metro-Golden-Mayer, in reply to the publicity, helped make Ann-Margret's wish come true by co-staring alongside Elvis in the multimillion-dollar film, Viva Las Vegas.

The out come of this was absolutely out standing; it was the best movie Elvis had made since coming back from the army thee years previous, and became one of the hottest box office hits and a popular success in 1964.

Viva Las Vegas was Elvis's fourteenth movie Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer set a budget of three million dollars for Viva Las Vegas, and received a rewarding return on their investment as the movie grossed a total of more than five million dollars in United States alone.

The film proved to be Elvis's most successful motion picture ever and his best musical, gaining a favorable outcome of wealth, and fame.

The romance between Elvis and Actress Ann-Margret on the set would however, continue off the set as well.

As the Hollywood movie stars seemed almost inseparable while filming, the rumors began floating around Hollywood satisfying the needs of the gossip goers on the grapevine.

Although Elvis and Ann-Margret were the talk of the town, it did little to damage the careers of either star.

As a matter of fact, the attention they received through the publicity was just the opposite as it attracted more attention to the film Viva Las Vegas and would help make the movie an overwhelming hit.

Even though their love affair was publicly known, the pair continued dating in private as the gossip ran wild.
There were Marriage predictions headlined on just about every fan magazine available.

While their romance continued after the filming of Viva Las Vegas, the gossip ran hotter than ever.

A short time later, Ann-Margret made an announcement from London claiming that there was a marriage in the making.

Elvis, as was his usual pattern tight lipped in these situations, refused to make any statements concerning his marital plans, it soon became evident that wedding bells would not be in his stars that year.

As of that point, the romance quickly fizzled out but Elvis and Ann-Margret would remain good friends for the rest of his life.

Elvis never dated another actress; the next real love in his life would be Priscilla Ann Beauieu.
