Top 10 Billboard Rock Songs - March 31, 2012

106 22
This week's Billboard Rock Songs chart has some big news in the Top 10. First, Five Finger Death Punch's "Remember Everything" has fallen out of the countdown. Second, two bands have two songs in the Top 10. And perhaps most intriguing of all, we have a brand new No. 1...

10. The Black Keys - "Gold on the Ceiling"

Our sole debut in the Top 10 comes from a band that's been on our countdown for a good long while now. "Gold on the Ceiling" from the Black Keys has been used in all the promos for the NCAA college basketball tournament, but even if you don't like hoops it's easy to enjoy this El Camino track. It checks in at No. 10.Buy from Amazon »

9. Foo Fighters - "Walk"

This is the 38th week in a row that Foo Fighters' "Walk" has been on our countdown. (Quite impressive.) And it refuses to leave the Top 10, hanging on at No. 9 for a second straight week.Buy from Amazon »

8. Foster the People - "Don't Stop (Color on the Walls)"

For a second week in a row, Foster the People hold down the No. 8 spot with "Don't Stop (Color on the Walls)." The band will be hitting the road starting in late May for a North American tour that will stretch until July.Buy from Amazon »

Rise Against are the third of four acts in our Top 10 who are stuck in the same chart position as they were last week. "Satellite" from Endgame sits at No. 7 for a second consecutive week.Buy from Amazon »

6. Chevelle - "Face to the Floor"

Chevelle's "Face to the Floor" entered our chart back in November, eventually getting as high as No. 3. For a third week in a row, the Hats Off to the Bull rocker hangs out at No. 6.Buy from Amazon »

5. Shinedown - "Bully"

"Bully" is getting pushed around a little on our chart. The first single from Shinedown's new album, Amaryllis, had been at No. 4 for three weeks, but now it drops one spot to No. 5.Buy from Amazon »

4. Foo Fighters - "These Days"

The making of "These Days" was chronicled in Foo Fighters: Back and Forth, a documentary about the history of the band that won the Grammy for Best Long Form Music Video. "These Days" peaked at No. 2, held out of the top spot by the Black Keys' "Lonely Boy," and this week the Wasting Light smash falls a spot from No. 3 to No. 4.Buy from Amazon »

3. fun. (Featuring Janelle Monae) - "We Are Young"

Apparently, a lot of rock fans want more "fun." -- as in, the New York band who spell their name in lowercase letters and a period at the end. Their hit single, "We Are Young," was featured in a Chevy Sonic commercial, and on the Billboard Rock Songs chart, it's our highest climber, jumping two places to No. 3.Buy from Amazon »

2. The Black Keys - "Lonely Boy"

The reign of "Lonely Boy" has ended. After 14 weeks at No. 1 -- the second-longest run ever at the top of our chart -- the Black Keys single drops to No. 2.Buy from Amazon »

1. Gotye (Featuring Kimbra) - "Somebody That I Used to Know"

So, who dethroned the Black Keys? Wouter "Wally" De Backer, whom the world knows better as Gotye. The Australian musician had a No. 1 smash in his homeland last year with the melancholy indie-pop song "Somebody That I Used to Know," and it's been nearly as popular in the States, scoring high on both the pop and alternative charts. This week, Gotye rises one spot on our countdown to become our new No. 1.Buy from Amazon »
