How to Find Fashion in Magazines
- 1). Visit a bookstore to find a wide selection of fashion magazines, from American to international publications. These fashion magazines show off the trendiest styles and newer looks. You also find specific types of fashion, for men or weddings, in this section as well. "Cosmopolitan," "Glamour," Harper's Bazaar," "Brides" and "GQ" are some well-known fashion magazines.
- 2). Flip through the magazines and mark pages with advertisements that show off different outfit styles. Most designers place advertisements for upcoming fashion lines in the front, middle and back sections of the magazine.
- 3). Open the magazine to the first few pages and find the index. The index lists editorial pages where complete fashion sets are put together by the magazine staff. These pages deliver the most fashion concepts in one area of the magazine.
- 4). Place a sheet of tracing paper down on to the page with a fashion design you like. With a medium pencil, sketch out the silhouette of the design. Tracing a dress silhouette is the simplest way to spot design.
- 5). Compare the silhouettes to see common angles and patterns within the designs. Note which fabrics appear more than others. If you see a certain type of pant or pattern appear in more than one magazine, then most likely you found a trend among designers.
