Glue-In Technique and Half Weaves

• Before considering using glue, try a spot test to determine if you're allergic to hair glue. Part a section of your hair and apply glue and hair extension to a small spot, and leave it applied for 24 hours. If there is no irritation, go ahead and style the entire head of hair.
  Apply glue directly on the track of hair and place it in between the hair and the visible scalp. Applying glue directly to the hair can result in extreme breakage.
  Half weaves are those that are attached using combs, similar to those found in a traditional wig. In a half weave, half of your natural hair is revealed and used to cover any detection of the artificial weave piece. This weave option allows greater mobility in style. • Consider strand bonding techniques, or "fusion." Fused hair follicles last longer than glue-applied extensions, but they can be equally damaging if not done correctly. There are several ways to fuse loose hair strands. The most inexpensive way is to take small sections of hair and fuse the hair together using rubber band bonds. Professional fusing is normally done with adhesives, thermal bonding or cold bonding. All are methods used to fuse artificial hair to human hair follicles.
  
  Drawstring weaves come in a variety of options and give women versatility. They're also not as stressful on hair follicles and can be easily removed because they don't require adhesives. The style that you can achieve using drawstrings can change day to day. Drawstring weaves are available for a variety ponytails, buns, afros and different hair textures.
  
  

Pre-Glue and Sew-In Weaves

• Try pre-glued hair extensions, which are used as a braidless weave technique and are significant in decreasing application time. After removing the plastic that covers the adhesive, apply pre-glued hair between the bottom of the hair part and the hair scalp.
  
  Although this takes practice, sew-in weaves can be a do-it-yourself project. You have to rely on your sense of touch mostly to determine the direction of your sewing path. It's recommended that you practice on a hair mannequin to perfect your sewing skills. In order to sew your own weave, you'll also need to know how to braid. Hair extensions are sewed into well-crafted braids. Without the ability to braid proficiently, getting a quality sew-in is virtually impossible. It's recommended that synthetic hair be added to your braids if you have thin, fine or weak hair. This prevents your natural hair from breaking.
  
  

Lace-Front Hair Weaves

• Go for glamour with a lace-front weave, commonly called wigs. Lace wigs are applied to the base of the hairline and are more realistic in appearance than traditional wigs.
  
  Traditional wigs are held in place with stocking caps and hairpins, but lace fronts are kept in place with adhesive or two-sided tape. Lace-front hair wigs are available in all textures, just like hair extensions. They're available in synthetic, human, Chinese and Indian Remy. These wigs cost hundreds of dollars.
