Troubleshooting Uninstall Option Not Available in Windows 98
- 1). Click “Yes” if you see the message “Do you want setup to save existing system files?” This message shows up right after the Uninstall Option Not Available error message and will transfer some of your Windows 98 files to another drive on your computer with free space. Once this is done, Windows XP upgrades normally. If you do not receive this message then proceed to Step 2.
- 2). Press “Esc” to cancel the Windows XP upgrade process. Your computer will restart.
- 3). Double-click “My Computer” icon on your computer desktop.
- 4). Double-click the drive icon in which Windows 98 files are present on the My Computer window that opens (for example, C:).
- 5). Search for files on this drive that you do not need (except in the Windows folder), click to select the file and then press “Delete” key on your keyboard. Once you have more than 1.5 GB of free disk space on this drive, restart the Windows XP upgrade process.
