How to Perform 'Risky Business' Dance to 'Old Time Rock 'n' Roll'
- 1). Slide on the hardwood floor in your socks when the song starts. There will be two piano riffs at the beginning of the song. Slide between the riffs.
- 2). Turn around to the right 180 degrees while raising your right leg, and start lip-synching the lyrics of the song, singing into an inanimate object like it was a microphone. In the film, he uses a candlestick, but you can use anything that is tall and thin, like a spatula or a flashlight.
- 3). Lightly jog in place, moving your legs with the rhythm of the song. Point to yourself with your free hand when the line "I said I'd listen to them by myself" plays.
- 4). Slowly walk forward, slightly bobbing your head, toward a wall. Touch the wall after the lyric "I like that old time rock 'n' roll."
- 5). Jog in place again while facing the wall, and run your hand down the top of your head. At the end of the line "Don't try to take me to a disco," turn around and toss the fake microphone gently onto a carpeted or cushioned area. In the film, he tosses it onto a loveseat.
- 6). Lightly jog in place again, and with your left arm straightened out in front of you with the hand pointing, move your arm from your right side to your left, making a full arc.
- 7). Pick up an object leaning against the wall to your right. In the film, he picks up a fireplace tool, but you can use something the same size, like a tennis racquet. Brandish the tool like a guitar in front of you.
- 8). Step up onto a table when the line "In 10 minutes I'll be late for the door" and bend your knees outward so that that your stooped a little. Walk forward on the table in that position while shaking your rump and strumming the fake guitar.
- 9). Jump from the table when the line "I like that old time rock 'n' roll" comes on again. Drop to your knees and now use the fake guitar like a microphone again, slowly shaking your head to the left and right and leaning back and forth.
- 10
Throw the fake microphone/guitar gently out of the way. Turn to the right in a half-split position after the line "That kind of music just soothes the soul" and push yourself upward. If you cannot do the splits, just slowly rise up. - 11
Hop backward toward a couch or some other large, cushioned object. Jump backward onto the couch after the line "I reminisce about the days of old." - 12
Throw your arms and legs into the air and shake them wildly while on the couch. After the line "That old time rock 'n' roll," turn over and begin to shake with your whole body on top of the couch. - 13
When the guitar solo starts, get up from the couch and pop up your collar. Turn around 180 degrees and start to vigorously strum your air guitar while lightly jogging in place again. - 14
Jump forward onto the couch. This is the last step in the dance sequence.
