How To Lose Weight Without Losing Your Mind In The Process

Even with the busy lives we all seem to lead these days, it is important to make the health of our bodies a priority. It is all too easy to slip into a familiar routine of fast food, late nights, stress and no exercise. Add to this the fact that we're so busy our mind rationalizes that as exercise and you've soon got a potential problem on your hands. So how can you lose weight without going insane?

First off, in order to get you what you consider your perfect weight, it is important to know exactly where you're starting from as a first benchmark. If you've not been to the doctor for a physical in a while (I know, I hate them too!) then make this a priority, for it is from these results that you can start to make a battle plan.

Next, once you know your level of fitness (a free consultation at any gym will determine this), step on the dreaded scale. Write down the result and post in where you will see it throughout the day (a goal card in your wallet is perfect as you will have it on you at all times), in the bathroom at home, on your computer monitor, at your desk at work.

Next, decide on the amount of weight you would like to lose and the time frame in which to do so. Post this where you can see it.

Next, take a good hard look at your current diet. We all like the occasional cheeseburger but if this has become a staple (cheeseburgers as a food group?) then you should reevaluate this option. The key here is to cut down on processed and junk foods. If you eat at night, stop. This was one of my areas of trouble for a long time. If you wake up and feel the need to eat, get a big glass of water. Not only will this aid in cleaning your system, it will fill you up as well.

There are three things that need to be kept in mind when traveling along your weight loss path: first, it is YOUR path and you need to do what works for you. If you can only make it to the gym twice a week for 20 minutes, that is fine. It is not the length of time, but how productive you are with it that matters.

Second, losing weight does not necessarily mean you need to spend hours in the gym, on the treadmill or starve yourself. Your body needs energy to function at its best. Keep tabs on what you eat and drink. Get a minimum of 30 minutes of exercise at least 3 days a week (walking is best if you're short of time) as well.

Third, and this perhaps is the biggest key to losing weight: get your mind right. When you believe you can do something and you bolster that believe with positive thinking, you will reach your goal. Remember, it takes time to lose weight effectively and it is not done overnight.
