How to Put a D-Loop on a Primitive Bow
- 1). Burn both ends of the 4-inch piece of bowstring with a lighter to singe and fuse them. Remove the flame from the bowstring and let the it cool completely.
- 2). Start tying the top knot of the D-Loop 1/2 inch above the center of the bowstring. Place the piece of string on the left side of the bowstring and leave 1/2 inch facing the back of the bowstring. Wrap that piece around the front and bring it back around over the top of itself.
- 3). Wrap it around again and bring it back through the loop that was just created. Pull the string lightly to create the knot and then tighten it.
- 4). Start the bottom portion of the loop by placing the remaining material from the first knot on the right side of the bowstring.
- 5). Wrap the end of the piece of string around the right side of the bowstring and back around itself to come through the loop.
- 6). Pull the string down and loop it around the bowstring on the left side to form another small loop.
- 7). Push the end of the D-Loop string through the small loop and pull on the D-Loop to make it snug.
