How to Make a Linux Boot Disc
- 1). Look over the list of the Top Ten Linux Distributions (in Resources) and find one you like. They are all comprehensive and stable, and come with access to a plethora of free software.
- 2). Download the version you want to make a boot disc out of. This downloads as a disc image (ISO) file and is a large download, up to 700 MB depending on the distribution you choose.
- 3). Put your blank CD in the disc drive and open your CD burning software. Choose the "Burn Disc Image" option and select the ISO you downloaded in Step 1. Click "Burn Disc" and allow the process to complete. You can boot this disc at system startup by going into the system BIOS and making "CD-ROM" into "Primary" in the "Boot Order."
