San Diego Festival of Beer 20th Anniversary
The San Diego Festival of Beer is in its twentieth year and it will be delighting the taste buds of San Diego residents and visitors on Friday, September 19.
The San Diego Festival of Beer focuses on highlighting the many beers that originate from San Diego’s innovative and tasty breweries plus some other national and international favorites. This year there will be over sixty different breweries being represented with over 120 different brews being poured.
From hoppy IPAs to strong, international-inspired stouts, you’ll find some old favorites and be able to try some new beers that might surprise and delight you during your time at the San Diego Festival of Beer. Coronado Brewing Company is even crafting a special beer just for this festival to commemorate the event's 20th anniversary.
In addition to Coronado Brewing Company, breweries that will be at the San Diego Festival of Beer include popular local favorites like AleSmith Brewing Company, Ballast Point Brewing and Spirits, Firestone Walker Brewing Company, Mother Earth Brewing Company, Green Flash Brewing Company, Julian Hard Cider, Mission Brewery, Stone Brewing Company, Pizza Port, Lost Abbey, Culture Brewing Company and many more. Other national favorites will also be pouring beer, such as Big Sky Brewing Company, Sierra Nevada and Maui Brewing Company.
There won’t just be beer at this event, though. There will also be a select offering of wine poured at the event, which you can use the tastings that come with your admission ticket toward.
Live music on sound stages will also be played at the event, putting you even more into a festival mood.
More important than the beer, though, is that the San Diego Festival of Beer is hosted by the San Diego Professionals Against Cancer (SDPAC) organization. The SDPAC raises money and awareness for cancer research and treatment, and the San Diego Festival of Beer is its flagship event to do so. Proceeds from the festival go to this cause of helping to fight cancer. Non-beer sponsors also participate in the event to help raise awareness and funds for fighting cancer.
San Diego Festival of Beer tickets are $40 and include 10 four ounce tastings. You can purchase additional tastings once at the event: five for $5 or 10 for $10. The San Diego Festival of Beer has a new location this year, which is just one more aspect that helps signify the event’s 20th anniversary. It will be held at Port Pavilion on Broadway Pier, an innovative building that is located right on the pier with large windows overlooking the San Diego Bay. Port Pavilion on Broadway Pier is located at 1000 N. Harbor Drive in San Diego. The San Diego Festival of Beer will be running there from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., so get your tickets and get ready for five hours of beer-oriented and charity fund raising fun! Â
