- 1). Download a copy of AVI to GIF/JPEG converter, install the program, and then launch it.
- 2). Click on the "Open Video" button in the main menu of AVI to GIF/JPEG converter. Locate the AVI file you wish to convert using the file explorer window that appears.
- 3). Press "Play" in the player window to preview your video and to get your bearings on what portion of the video you'll be extracting a photo from. Press the "Pause" button to halt the video. Drag the time line slider to cue the video up to, or near, the portion of the AVI that you wish to convert to a photo.
- 4). Fine tune your selection. Use the "<<0.1s" and "<<5s" buttons below the video to step the video back in 0.1 seconds or 5 seconds increments. And use the "5s>>" and "0.1s>>" to step the video forward.
- 5). Click the "Capture to JPEG" button to capture a photo of the desired frame of your AVI. Click the "Save To" button in the next menu to choose a location on your computer to save your photo.
