Set Up

• 1). Fit a 2.5-mm hex key to the left nut-lock at the top of the fretboard. Loosen the nut to relieve the down-force applied by the nut-lock to the strings. Repeat for the other two nut-locks. The nut-lock is part of the double-locking mechanism that preserves tuning stability. When it is fastened, the tuning machines can't influence the tension of the strings.
  
  
• 2). Set each thumb-screw on the bridge to its halfway point. The on-board thumb-screws are for minor tuning adjustments when the nut-lock is fastened. While the nut-lock puts a stop on any tuning machine adjustments, it doesn't account for humidity-related string tension changes. The thumb-screws enable you to make small adjustments without the hassle of unfastening the nut-lock. Setting them to the middle allows for an equal tuning range in both directions.
  
  
• 3). Fit a clip-on tuner or plug your Ibanez into an electric tuner. Tune the strings using the machine heads, tightening to correct flat strings and loosening to correct sharp notes.
  
  
• 4). Tighten the nut-lock with the hex key. With the strings in tune and the nut-lock fastened, aggressive tremolo use or accidental tuning machine movement won't affect the pitch of the strings. You only need to use the on-board thumb-screws for minor tuning adjustments.
  
  

Tuning

• 1). Fit a clip-on tuner or plug your guitar into a tuner. Play the low E string and monitor the tuner reading.
  
  
• 2). Adjust the thumb-screw if the string is out of tune. Tighten the screw to correct a flat note. Loosen the screw to correct a sharp note.
  
  
• 3). Play the remaining strings one after the other and use the same tuning process.
