How to Draw a Cool Shark

    • 1). Draw a dorsal fin. Begin a line on your paper near one edge. Extend the line toward the opposite edge at a slight angle. Angle the line sharply toward the top of your paper, then reverse direction and bring it down in line with the original vertical line. It should come about halfway along the body (judge by the length you plan to make your shark). How high you draw it will be relative to the size of your shark, but it doesn't need rise extremely high.

    • 2). Create one side of the shark's tail. Draw the rest of the horizontal line back to where you will draw your shark's tail. Draw the tail by creating a slight curve toward the top of your paper, bringing the curve to a point, then drawing another curved line that angles inward. Repeat this to create the second side of the tail.

    • 3). Draw a line from the underside of the tail that extends back toward where you began the drawing. Draw a triangular fin on the underside of the shark, just past the position where you drew the dorsal fin. This is a side fin. Continue a line from this fin around to the first line you drew. Leave a space between this line and the first for the shark's mouth. This bottom line should be shorter than the top (beginning line) to create the proportion of the shark's snout.

    • 4). Create the shark's gills. Draw three slightly curved vertical lines just in front of the side fin. Draw a row of upside down triangles along the top and bottom lines of the snout for teeth. Add a small circle on the top part of the snout, near where the head angles into the body.

    • 5). Color the shark blue and gray with color pencils. Apply the gray first, completely filling in the shark. Shade blue lightly over the gray. The main color should be gray, with just slight blue overtones. Color the shark's eye black.
