- 1). Contact your wireless carrier to add data tethering to your plan. Tethering lets you connect your PPC 6700 to a computer as a wireless modem via USB.
- 2). Dial "##3328873" on your PPC 6700 and press "Talk."
- 3). Enter the unlock code when prompted. The code for the PPC 6700 is "000000."
- 4). Highlight "Enable WModem" by clicking on it and then press the "Edit" soft key in the bottom left corner of the screen.
- 5). Enable WModem by clicking on the drop-down menu and selecting "Enable." Click "OK."
- 6). Enable Bluetooth wireless modem connections for future use by highlighting "BT DUN" and clicking the "Edit" soft key. Select "Enable" from the drop-down menu.
- 7). Press "OK," at which point you must reset the PPC 6700. Press "OK" when prompted to reset the device. This is necessary to enable the PPC 6700's wireless modem function.
- 8). Click on the "Start" menu from the PPC 6700 home screen and open "File Explorer." Open the "Windows" folder and press and hold over the "WModem" application. Select the option to create a shortcut. Press and hold your finger or stylus over the shortcut and select "Copy."
- 9). Paste the WModem shortcut in the Start Menu folder located in the Windows directory.

Insert the setup CD that accompanied your PPC 6700 when you bought it into an optical drive on your computer. Using My Computer, navigate to the "D:\OEM\APPS\Drivers\CDMA USB Modem\" directory, where "D:" is replaced with the letter assigned to the CD drive on your computer. - 11
Right-click on both the "CDMA USB Modem.INF" and "CDMA_USB_Modem_Dialer.exe" files and copy them to the desktop of your computer. - 12
Open the Comm Manager application on the PPC 6700 and stop the data connection. All data connections must be interrupted when first configuring the PPC 6700 to work as a wireless modem. - 13
Connect the PPC 6700 to an available USB port on your computer using the data cable supplied with the phone. - 14
Click the "Start" menu on the PPC 6700 and click on "WModem" to launch the wireless modem dialer. Next, click on "USB" as the connection type in the drop-down selector. Click "Start" in WModem. - 15
Double-click "CDMA USB Modem.INF," which you placed on the desktop of your computer in Step 11. This installs the drivers necessary for your Windows computer to use the PPC 6700 as a modem. - 16
Launch the "CDMA_USB_Modem_Dialer.exe" application you copied from the PPC 6700 setup disk to your computer's desktop. - 17
Enter the following information in the CDMA USB Modem window:

Click "Dial" to use your PPC 6700 as a USB modem. Open a Web browser or messaging application to verify Internet connectivity on your PPC 6700.
