How to Be a Guy Model
- 1). Determine what type of guy modeling you want to do, whether it's runway, editorial, fitness, commercial or glamour. Research other guy models in the genre of modeling you want to do. Figure out the kinds of "looks" those other guy models are presenting and how you could bring something fresh and new to the table.
- 2). Get your head shot taken. A head shot is a photograph of just your face and shoulders. Find a photographer who has a solid portfolio of other people's headshots. Choose clothes and a background that best illustrates your look.
- 3). Develop a portfolio. Start with low-paying or unpaid work. Find these sorts of jobs on Craigslist (craigslist.org) or Star Now (starnow.com). Focus on building experience to show modeling agencies you're serious about your career.
- 4). Send your portfolio out to agencies. Target agencies that have represented people with your type of look and do the type of modeling you want to do. Research trends in the market. Keep working those low-paying or unpaid modeling jobs while you wait to hear from an agency.
