• Irvington is a township very close to Newark, New Jersey, that was founded in 1692 and incorporated in 1874. The Elizabeth River runs down the middle of the town from north of Irvington to its south. The land on the east side of the river is on a rolling plain, while the land on the west is on a spur of the Orange Mountains and reaches 220 feet above sea level.
