How to Cut a Shower Shelf

104 6
    • 1). Measure the height, width and depth of the shower shelf/niche box, then use a yard stick and marker to draw a cutting template line on the shower wall for the same dimensions.

    • 2). Put on dust mask and safety glasses. Cut along the drawn line on the shower wall with a mini-circular saw. Make the cuts along the drawn lines to accommodate the shower shelf. Pull out the cut material from the shower wall and dispose of it.

    • 3). Set the shower shelf into the recess you cut in the shower wall. It should fit snugly into the space and not shift up, down or side to side.

    • 4). Apply a coat of water proofer/seam sealant around the edges of the shower shelf using a paintbrush. Immediately adhere strips of non-woven latex mesh around the edges of the shower shelf, then coat over the strips with the water proofer/seam sealant using a paintbrush. Allow the water proofer/seam sealant to dry as long as directed by the manufacturer.
