Kum Nye, the Body, and Time

103 12
Of the benefits of Kum Nye practice, the experience of time may be one of the most magical.
Actually, different regions of your inner landscape may relate to time differently, but it is important to note that when the mind and body come together completely (in your heart of hearts) the experience is timeless.
We can use the model of the four energy centers as a map to explore time in the body, but note that even the big toe may have a completely unique sense of timing.
In general, the head center is all about the future.
It is the planner; the captain of the ship.
The head center is always looking in front of us.
The head center, when functioning optimally has incredible visionary capabilities.
Because the head center is over-emphasized in our society, the vision becomes skewed.
The head center is trying to compensate for lack of awareness in other areas.
Then the future becomes an unknown to be feared instead of an open field of awareness.
The four energy centers can only do their best work when the other centers are pulling their weight.
In order to relax the overactive head, we need to soften and communicate from the heart.
The head and the heart have a very special relationship.
In Kum Nye we speak of the heart as having layers.
When you 'put your heart into it' this is the outer more physical aspect of your heart.
This is also the 'layer' of the heart that carries the burden of the past.
In Kum Nye we don't ask why the heart is not always open, we simply attribute it to the fact that in the past we did not feel safe.
The heart has become armored.
Therefor, it can not accept the nourishment that feelings and sensations in the body provide.
Our ability to access our natural enthusiasm is, at times, compromised because it has been in the past.
Kum Nye gives us a way to heal the past by teaching us how to direct the nourishment of feelings and sensations back to the heart.
Now we have access to the past in a way that manifests as wisdom.
This wisdom is the real magic of the heart.
True wisdom encourages us to be open.
When we open the doors of the heart, we gain access to the inner heart.
Herein lays the real depth of meaning in life.
The belly (or navel) center is the support for the opening of the whole system.
Because the belly is about survival, or needs, the experience of time in the belly is 'the now.
' If we are hungry, we want to eat now.
When we want to kiss, we don't want to wait until next week.
The belly has a lot of power, but with out the support of the other centers, it can be impatient and demanding.
With an open, relaxed belly center, we know the right thing to do now.
We have an intuitive sense of appropriate action.
The belly and the throat have a special relationship in Kum Nye.
Without the strength of the belly, the throat cannot remain open.
Without an open, flowing throat the powerful energy in the belly has nowhere to go and will contribute to bursts of emotionality followed by periods of lacking energy.
In Kum Nye we always start by opening the throat center.
When the throat center begins to open, the healing flow of feelings and sensations becomes an integrated experience.
The throat center is about communication, inner and outer, so it is through the throat center that the body allows communication between body and mind, and the inner environment with the outside world.
The resulting relationship to time is a feeling of being 'in' time.
Because the throat is the center of integration, the sense of timing in the body communicates in the throat center.
In Kum Nye terminology we call this 'the present'.
The present is different from 'the now' in that the past, the future, and the now are all included.
That is why we feel 'in' time.
Time is integrated.
The magical part is that life will feel serendipitous.
Actually, serendipity is a normal part of life.
By opening the throat, we simply allow that aspect of life to flow and therefore inform us.
