The Symptoms of Genital Warts in Three Acts

103 14
The symptoms of genital warts occur in several stages, and in order to keep oneself safe and healthy, it's worth knowing how to identify these symptoms at every step of their development.
Consider this guide a sort of report on the "Life cycle of the genital wart".
Early symptoms: Genital warts are most difficult to spot, but easiest to treat, at their earlier stages of development.
When they are first appearing, they may simply look like acne or ingrown hairs.
The difference will be in a tougher consistency, and unusual persistence.
A pimple or ingrown hair only takes a few days to fade, but it may seem to be taking up permanent residence.
At this stage, these warts are not actually a sign of recent contraction.
HPV transmitted to an individual might not make itself known in the form of warts in the genitals for a year, a decade, or ever.
This fact should be spread, as more than a few long, happy marriages have been subject to misunderstanding and strife due to an HPV infection that took years to surface in the form of warts.
Do not attempt to treat warts at this stage until you've spoken to your doctor, lest you risk applying wart medication to acne or ingrown hair.
Developing symptoms of genital warts You hardly need to be told how to spot it at this stage.
They will have the same iconic, cauliflower like appearance that we all associate with warts.
Just like hand warts or elbow warts, at this stage they are typically seen as white, rough, callous like extrusions from the skin.
However, you should also be on the lookout for warts that are a little less obvious.
Some strains of HPV result in plantar wart-esque genital warts, which appear flush with the skin, less like warts and more like small cigarette burns.
Later stages At later stages, the presence of genital warts will be painfully obvious, often appearing as grotesque, tumorous protrusions along the skin.
It is important to identify and treat warts before they reach this stage.
At later stages of development, warts are most easily treated with minor surgery, such as laser treatment, freezing or burning them away, or more conveniently, simply...
snipping them off with a pair of medical scissors.
Luckily, very few wart infections reach this stage, as it requires a degree of reckless neglect towards one's own health to reach this level of development.
