    • 1). Wash your hands with soap and hot water throughout the day. Before eating anything or putting your hands near your face, clean them to prevent sickness from germs on your hands. If warm water and soap are not available, pour an alcohol-based hand sanitizer onto your hands and rub it over your hands for 20 seconds.

    • 2). Take a shower every day. If you are traveling, you might consider taking two showers: one in the morning to start your day and one in the evening to remove germs from your body. After exercise, take a shower to remove any germs and sweat from your body. If you are camping and a shower is not available, boil some water using a clean camping pot and allow it to cool to a comfortable temperature. Dip a clean wash cloth into the water and give yourself a sponge bath to remove germs and dirt.

    • 3). Eat healthy foods such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains and fish. A clean internal body requires healthy eating habits. Minimize processed foods such as white flour or sugar and avoid junk food as much as possible. The Simmon's College Center for Health and Hygiene suggests that you eat fruits and vegetables with thick peels that you remove personally while traveling and that you avoid any foods from vendors or leafy vegetables like salads.

    • 4). Take a multivitamin every day. While a multivitamin is not as healthy as eating the vitamins in natural foods, when you are traveling or when you are busy you might not have the best nutritional options. The multivitamin helps fill in any gaps in vitamins that you might not get every day in your foods.

    • 5). Drink water throughout the day. According to the website Kid's Health, water is needed for the blood, lymphatic system and waste removal. Without water, blood cells are less efficient in delivering oxygen to the body, and the lymphatic system, which is important for a healthy immune system, does not work properly. The Kid's Health article states that if your urine is dark yellow in color, you should drink more water.

    • 6). Exercise regularly. Exercising can range from taking a morning jog or walk to going to the gym and working out with weights. Talk to your doctor about the best exercise program for your personal level of health before starting any exercise routines.

    • 7). Wipe down objects that traditionally carry germs with an antibacterial wipe. Objects to wipe down include doorknobs, small items like remotes or alarm clocks in public locations and gym equipment. Wipe down your gym equipment both before and after you use it.

    • 8). Use a clean gym towel to sit on at the gym. Minimizing body contact with germs is important, especially if you will not have the opportunity to take a shower until you get home.

    • 9). Wash clothes and clean your house regularly. Cleanliness and health require not only a clean body, clean hands and healthy food habits, but also keeping the environment around you clean. Objects like dishes require cleaning every day while clothes can wait a week until you have a full load before you wash them.
