Should You Train Your Abs Every Day?

103 3
It is a common belief that in order to get a six pack you have to do a huge amount of crunches every day.
Has this worked so far? The abdominals are like any muscle which when worked intensively requires time to repair the small tears created by the exercises.
This repair is how muscles develop size and strength.
Like any other muscle, you should allow a rest day to allow this repair to happen; working the same muscle every day can result in muscle fatigue and injuries.
Working your abdominals 2-3 times per week will allow you build a strong core while allowing the muscles sufficient time to recover.
Crunches in particular can cause an imbalance and lead to lower back problems due to a relatively weaker lower back and your body may hunch due to strength of your abdominals.
This hunching could lead to problems with the spine due to its unnatural curved position.
Many people also believe that doing endless crunches will burn body fat.
The crunch movement is a resistance exercise and as it's isolated to one area of the body and the range of motion is small the calories burned is small, almost insignificant in terms of losing belly fat.
Many people want to know how to get a six pack fast and the key to achieving this is to focus on losing belly fat.
You could have rock hard abs but if they are hidden under a layer of fat, no one will ever see them.
No amount of crunches will give you a six pack alone; you must have a low body fat percentage, around 10%, for your abs to show through your body fat.
The half hour many people spend performing crunches would be much better served as 5-10 minutes of more effective ab work and 20 minutes of high intensity training which will burn body fat and with time will reveal your six pack.
The truth about abs is that you cannot get a trimmed waistline and a fantastic six pack purely with abdominal work; you must eat properly to lose weight and work your entire body to further burn body fat which will unleash your six pack abs.
The old accepted ways to get a six pack are clearly not working for much of the people who are battling to get the six pack they desire.
By modifying your mindset and refocusing your efforts on weight loss instead of abdominal development, a six pack can be yours.
