    • 1). Identify parties using their proper names and contact information, such as address or tax identification number. If you are selling furniture to Mr. Smith, the contract should state both parties' full names, such as ABC Furniture Inc., 1 Muebles Row, Austin, Texas and Mr. James Smith 123 Anywhere, Anytown, USA.

    • 2). Describe the basis of the contract thoroughly, regardless of whether it involves a service or product. For instance, when selling furniture, you might write living room and bedroom sets that total 13 pieces. Mention unique features, such as special sizes or brand names.

    • 3). Highlight special provisions, such as about payment, early cancellation, revocation or shipping delays. You might discuss a $1,000 charge that applies to any party that cancels less than 48 hours before the contract deadline.

    • 4). Distribute contract drafts to each party. Edit the contract to reflect any changes. For instance, a tenant might negotiate a smaller security deposit before signing a lease agreement. Another party might insist that the contract specifically discuss responsibilities related to repairs or alterations.

    • 5). Adjust page margins and font so that the contract fits within one page. Provide sufficient space for all parties to sign and date the contract. Allocate room for a notary or witness signature, if necessary.
