Skin Irritation Relief
- Wash the irritated skin with a gentle cleanser and rinse thoroughly. If a substance such as a chemical or an allergen was the source of the irritation, this will make sure it is no longer in contact with your skin.
- Relieve irritated skin by adding various household products to a bath. Finely ground oatmeal, a few cups of white vinegar, powdered milk and baking soda all will help relieve red, itchy, irritated skin. Fill a bathtub with lukewarm water and add your choice of soothing treatments. Avoid commercial products that have chemicals or fragrances.
- For a spot treatment, make a paste of baking soda and water and apply directly to irritated skin. You also can soak a cotton ball in vinegar and apply it to the affected area. Aloe gel is a natural product that works wonders on irritated skin, as it moisturizes while soothing. As with any skin treatment, avoid getting these products in your eyes.
- A simple, soothing treatment for facial irritation includes one mashed banana, 2 teaspoons of honey, 1 tablespoon of milk and 2 tablespoons of finely ground oatmeal. Mix together, apply to your face and let it sit for about 30 minutes before rinsing off with cool water.
