How to Tear the Edges of a Card to Look Old World
- 1). Gather your greeting cards. If you can't find a style you like in your personal collection, buy a card. Any greeting card will do.
- 2). Fill a bowl with warm water. Add a tea bag to the water. The tea will stain the paper, which will add to its antique, Old World, look.
- 3). Submerge the greeting card or cards in the bowl of water for about 30 seconds.
- 4). Remove the card from the water, and pat it dry with the paper towel.
- 5). Tear the edges of the card in an uneven pattern--not in a straight line. Modern-day machines cut paper with fine, straight edges. Paper used in Old World times was not so refined. Also, crumpling the card and then smoothing it out will give it a texture similar to older types of paper.
- 6). Allow the card to dry and enjoy its new, Old World look.
