Nylon Prying Tools
- When an iPod needs servicing, technicians use nylon prying tools to take apart the two parts of the shell. The nylon tool is the perfect combination of strength and flexibility to perform this delicate task. The nylon pry tools separate the two parts of the shell without cracking the exterior plastic shell and without damaging any internal electronics. A metal screwdriver would likely do both if used for this intricate task.
- Increasing numbers of pre-manufactured, modular automobile parts are installed and removed with nylon pry tools. The advantages of nylon tools is that the tool flexes without marring the surface, which is pried into place or removed from the vehicle. Nylon pry tools can be inserted into a crack between upholstered or vinyl surfaces and the tool will not tear or deform the finished surfaces. Nylon pry tools are also used to push upholstered fabric into place. The tool doesn't rip or damage the fabrics or paper fiber body panels.
- Heavier-bodied nylon pry tools are suitable for installing and removing automotive body panels and trim. The nylon head on the tool doesn't scratch the car's painted surface. Since many of the panels and accessory trim on an auto are held in place with nylon push fasteners, the nylon pry bars need only be slightly stronger than the heads on the fasteners. The tool slides under the body panel and quickly removes the panel by lifting out or breaking the head off of the nylon fasteners.
- In short, nylon pry bars are useful in any application in which two pieces must be pried apart with minimal force. The tools protect the surfaces which are visible and avoid damaging any hidden surfaces, such as wiring, ribbon connectors and circuit boards. The nylon tools are affordable enough that when they become twisted out of shape or break under excessive use, technicians feel no remorse tossing the tool into a trash can and ordering a new one.
