- 1). Carefully unscrew your light switch plate from the wall using your screwdriver.
- 2). Outside, lay down a few sheets of newspaper. This is where you will be spray painting your light switch plate.
- 3). Put on your mouth and nose mask in order to prevent yourself from inhaling the spray paint fumes.
- 4). Place your light switch plate face up on the newspaper and carefully spray paint the entire plate with your choice of spray paint.
- 5). Let the first coat dry, and if desired, add a second coat of spray paint.
- 6). Once the second coat has dried (or if you only applied one, after it has dried), spray the plate with a clear coat of spray paint.
- 7). Let the clear coat of spray paint dry. Once it has dried, if desired, you may begin adding your decorative items like rhinestones, glitter, fabric, paints, among other accents. Let the decorative items dry overnight and add one last coat of clear spray paint and let dry before screwing it back into the wall.
- 8). Screw your light switch plate back into the wall.
