- 1). Identify the material that your lampshade is made from. Most lamps fall into one of three categories: stained or art glass, fabric, and transparent or beveled glass. Each requires slightly different care.
- 2). Unplug your lamp or disconnect the power source. If the lamp has been on recently, allow at least an hour for all parts of the Tiffany lamp to cool completely.
- 3). Clean stained or art glass lamps with a furniture polish that has a lemon oil base. Gently rub the polish over the surface of the lamp with a soft cloth. Fabric lamps should be wiped down with a soft brush or lint remover. You can use a slightly damp cloth over the surface of a fabric lamp shade, but do not use any form of cleaner or polish. Clean transparent or beveled glass Tiffany lamps with a glass cleaner or a mild solution of soap and water and a soft cloth.
- 4). Polish the metal fixtures and base of the lamp with a furniture polish or metal polish. Wipe with a soft cloth until the surface is completely dry.
