How to Make Green Hair Streaks With Food Coloring
- 1). Put on the latex gloves before you begin as the food coloring will stain your skin. Empty the food coloring of your choice into a large, empty and clean plastic bottle. You can use more or less coloring to vary the shade of green, but the full food coloring bottle is recommended for best results, especially if your hair is dark.
- 2). Pour your favorite shampoo, preferably a color-protecting shampoo, into the bottle with the food coloring. The bottle should be about one-quarter full. Shake the mixture well, adding about one tablespoon of water. Shake again.
- 3). Once fully combined, place an old towel around your neck to protect your skin and clothing from the food coloring. Begin applying the color to the areas of your hair you want green. Use hair clips or foil to help create highlights. Let the color set on your hair for about 20 minutes; if your hair is dark, leave on for 30-45 minutes. Rinse the color out of your hair completely, until the water runs clear.
