    • 1). Decide on a color palette to use in the room. If your daughter is old enough, allow her to choose two or three bright colors, such as orange and hot pink or purple and lime, that complement or contrast with each other. Use these colors repeatedly throughout the room.

    • 2). Paint the walls using one or all of the colors from your palette. Choosing to paint one wall as an accent wall while adding a border or large designs, such as circles or stripes to the other walls, is inexpensive and easy to change if she changes her mind about the colors.

    • 3). Reuse existing furniture or purchase a bedroom set for her. White, light or dark woods can function in any brightly colored room and won't have to be tossed out when her tastes change again. Choose one or two inexpensive pieces, such as a bookshelf, that can be painted in a color that contrasts with the wall it sits against.

    • 4). Buy a reversible comforter, which can provide two options to change up the room. Use a couple of bright pillows to dress up neutral bedding if you don't want to purchase new bed sets each time the decor of the room changes.

    • 5). Purchase curtains or make them, which is relatively inexpensive, and tie them into the color palette of the room with stripes, circles, butterflies or other bright patterns that match or contrast with the pillows or paint. Lamp shades can also be covered in brightly colored material to match the room.

    • 6). Add small accessories to complete the room, including a rug, picture frames, posters, art or chair covers.
