    Olive Oil

    • Olive oil increases skin's permeability because it contains oleic acid. It helps skin hold necessary moisture and makes it plump for a smooth and supple appearance. Olive oil also has a cleansing effect that helps to remove any impurities that have caked on the face due to built up dryness and dead skin cells. Extra virgin olive oil is the best to use on the skin because it is the least processed and lightest in color. Smooth a thin layer of olive oil on the face as a day and night moisturizer.

    Aloe

    • Aloe vera is an excellent moisturizer for dehydrated skin. Aloe vera gel comes from the aloe plant and has skin-healing skin-protecting capabilities. It is especially helpful for the prevention of skin dehydration and damage due to weather and climate. You can grow aloe in your own garden and break open the leaves for fresh aloe gel, or you can buy it at any grocery or drugstore. Aloe juice can be purchased at any health food store and is another option for a moisturizer that can be put in a spray bottle to mist the face for hydration.

    Honey

    • Honey is a natural substance that helps skin hold in moisture. When using honey as a facial mask, it will help skin lock in moisture. Honey also contains potassium, which is nature's antibiotic. This is particularly helpful for dry skin because dead cells can accumulate on the face, holding bacteria in the pores. Honey will hydrate as well as clear skin. Smooth honey on your face, let it soak into the pores for 25 minutes and rinse with lukewarm water.
