Operating System, Processor and Memory

• Each Toshiba A100-WA1 runs on the Home Edition of the Microsoft Windows XP operating system. The dual-core processor, courtesy of Intel, has a processing speed of 1.83 GHz. The standard random-access memory of the computer is 512 MB, although users can expand it to up to eight times that amount.
  
  

Data Storage Capabilities

• The Toshiba Satellite A100-WA1's hard drive provides 100 GB for internal data storage. For playing storage media formats, Toshiba provides a DVD Super Multi drive. This optical device can burn and play CDs and DVDs. Notably, the Super Multi drive, in addition to having DVD-RAM support, is compatible with the "minus" and "plus" DVD formats, which are DVD-R/DVD-RW) and DVD+R/DVD+RW, respectively.
  
  Toshiba also includes a five-in-one digital media card reader. Specifically, the available formats are Secure Digital, MultiMediaCard, Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro and xD-Picture Card.
  
  

Audio/Video and Connectivity

• The Toshiba Satellite A100-WA1 relies on a SRS TruSurround driver for its audio capabilities. As for video capabilities, the notebook has a ATI Mobility RADEON graphics/video card that uses up to 265 MB of its RAM.
  
  The A100-WA1's network capabilities consist of a 56 kilobits-per-second data/fax modem, 10/100/1000 Ethernet card, 802.11a/b/g wireless local area network and Bluetooth connectivity. Apart from the aforementioned multi-card reader, the computer counts four USB 2.0 ports, VGA and S-Video outputs, FireWire connector, PC Card and Express Card slots, and mic-in and headphone jacks among its external interfaces.
  
  

Physical Features

• Toshiba made the A100-WA1 from polycarbonate plastic and gave it a sunlight copper finish. Weighing about six lbs. with its standard battery, the computer measures about 14.2 inches in width, 10.5 inches in length and 1.5 inches in depth when closed. In addition to its QWERTY keyboard, the A100-WA1 has dual Harmon Kardon stereo speakers and a 15.4-inch transflective TFT wide-screen display.
