- 1). Pop the hood of the truck and prop it up.
- 2). Locate the fuel filter near the driver's side of the engine, toward the windshield. It is a small round container that resembles a soda can.
- 3). Put a catch pan or bucket under the fuel filter to catch any fuel that comes out of the drain hose.
- 4). Open the fuel filter drain valve to drain the fuel out of the filter.
- 5). Remove the fuel filter housing cover from the fuel filter. Lift the housing lid up and pull the old filter out, including the o-ring.
- 6). Lube up the new o-ring and install the new fuel filter in the place of the old one.
- 7). Connect the fuel filter housing cover.
- 8). Start the engine and check for any leaks.
