House Music Makes Its Way Into The Fabric Of America

San Diego, CA--House music, a genre once thought to be prescribed to by only troubled sub-culture youths and young-adults, in large part due to sensationalized media exposure surrounding its drug-induced reputation, has seen its popularity soar in recent years with the advent of house music superstars including Deadmau5, David Guetta, DJ AM and Tiesto.

Their beats and music production skills have been recognized world-wide for their pulsating rhythms, and hard hitting bass, while their stage performances involve sophisticated laser light shows and pyrotechnics explosions.

To further expand upon the house music sensation, one would only need to listen to a "Top 40" station in the United States for mere minutes before house music's top DJ's and producers could be heard featuring catchy remixes and pop-culture icons like Lady Gaga.

House music has began to ubiquitously permeate the pop-culture music and lifestyle scene as popular electronic music festivals like Coachella, and Electric Daisy Carnival found out this last year with sell-out crowds amassing just under a million attendees combined.

Nightclubs and bars around the country have also taken notice of the growing demand amongst partygoers for some good old fashion dirty electro.

"High ticket prices, cover charges and VIP bottle service reservations are par for the course these days,"  said Joel Siam, a prominent San Diego club promoter. San Diego Nightclubs like Voyeur, Fluxx, El Dorado, Barfly, and Quality Social, all book some of the industries top local and international house music acts, and for good reason. They sell tickets.

Chris Smith, a 24 year old entrepreneur can further attest to the growing popularity of house music in the United States.  He recently started his own clothing company featuring a neo-classical take on the old adage "Sex, Drugs, and Rock N Roll". His company SDH sells its trademarked T-shirts from its Facebook Fan Page, with a proudly splashed "Sex, Drugs, and House" laid across the front a in an assortment of different colors.

Smith said, "I came up with the idea on a whim and made some shirts for my friends and I to wear, soon after people started to stop us while we were out around town to ask where we got them."

His company's T-shirt sales have soared and he has began a new line of prints with male and female sizes, including sweatshirts. "It's fun for my friends and I, we work from home and process orders all day, while listening to our favorite music--dirty house," concludes Smith.

Despite the growing popularity of house and electronic music, many still believe it to be another fickle fad, similar to its previous rise in the United States during the mid to late 90's. However, club owners, music festival promoters, and young entrepreneurs alike are cashing in during a time when job security, and discretionary income are down; perhaps a better clue to the causal explanation for the rise in a house music popularity.
