Shoe Brand to Know: M. Gemi

Move over Jimmy Choo, there'e a new designer footwear brand in the house and it's price points are making our wallets jump for joy. Enter M. Gemi, the accessible shoe line out of Italy. Yes, that's right, Italy. The new line, already among the favorites of fashion bloggers, boasts the one thing we love to hear: Made in Italy

We’ve gone to the place so many others have left behind. Where handcrafting luxury shoes is still an art.

At a time when shoe design and manufacturing is being outsourced to less expensive locations, it's exciting to see M. Gemi stand true to the history of Italian shoe making. Even more exciting is that the price point is a lot less than your typical designer shoe, ranging from $148 to $298. Founder and charimen Ben Fischman was quoted in Fast Company:

It’s the highest-end materials, it’s the highest-end assembly, it’s the highest-end componentry. This is 100% Italian.

The M. Gemi styles are classic with a modern twist, like the Fiero pointed toe pump in exotic snake skin print. Unlike most designers who come out with seasonal collections, M. Gemi launched new styles weekly and each style as a story. Take the Girasole which was made in Tuscany by a group of brothers who have perfected the blocky heel. Each story gives customers an inside look into the style, the design process, and potential ways to wear the shoe. Speaking of ways to wear, see them styled on your favorite fashion bloggers:

  • Sincerely Jules adds her California casual cool to the The Domani pump. This is definitely the most versatile shoe out of the M. Gemi collection. We can see this from desk to drinks to date night! The clear detail adds a contemporary twist that we haven't seen anywhere else.
  • Something Navy goes casual chic in The Mille flat. We're digging the bedazzled details which give the flat an extra "oomph". Again, another versatile style that can be worn over and over.
  • Atlantic Pacific styled a few pairs but our favorite is  The Stella mule. It is this season's hottest style, after all. Blaire definitely adds her New York prep to all of the M. Gemi styles.
  • Gal Meets Glam took The Festa fringe wedge and styled it with a great denim skirt and blouse; such an easy breezy and accessible look.

It's amazing how versatile the styles are and how they can be styled preppy, classic, or with a more downtown vibe. Girls are literally wearing them coast to coast!

As a part of their shoe making process M. Gemi focuses much of their attention to fit and has a very comprehensive fit guide including descriptions of each forma. A forma is the basis of a shoe’s shape, determining how it feels on. This is a great feature as we know the biggest issue with shopping for shoes online is the overall fit! Speaking of online, right now M. Gemi can only be purchased on their namesake website. We're keeping our fingers crossed that they may come to a department store near us; it's always great to have the ability to try on a new designer.
