How to Make Kids' Pom Poms
- 1). Gather the two different colors of tissue paper that match the team for which your child will be cheering. Lay the tissue paper out on a flat surface in stacks of five. Cut the tissue paper in strips that are 12 inches long by 2 inches wide. For a fuller pom pom, cut as many as 150 strips. For a thinner pom pom, cut around 75 strips.
- 2). Mix the strips together so that the colors are evenly spread out. You do not want to have a huge section of the pom pom being one color only. To do this effectively, place all of the strips on the floor, and using both of your hands, mix them all together for about one minute until they are evenly blended.
- 3). Gather your strips with one hand and secure the bottom with a rubber band with your other hand. You will want to get as close to the bottom as possible without the chance of it falling off. Place half of the strips that are banded together inside the toilet paper roll. Firmly press down on the toilet paper roll and place up to 10 staples on each side of it to secure the tissue paper to it.
- 4). Apply a generous amount of glue from your hot glue gun to the toilet paper roll. Take your white ribbon and wrap it around the toilet paper roll until it is completely covered, and no staples are exposed.
