How to Remove a Kitchen Desk
- 1). Crawl underneath the kitchen desk with the drill in hand. Locate the two or more brackets holding the kitchen desk in place. Put the drill on reverse drilling and place it on one screw. Unscrew all of the screws keeping the desk in place. Remove the shelving brackets they become loose. Crawl out again when you find the desk is coming loose.
- 2). Slowly pull the desk away from the wall. Do not pull it hard, as you can end up damaging the wall especially if the desk was installed using a line of wood glue between the desk and the wall for additional security. Use the putty knife to slowly separate the desk from the wall, if applicable. Put the desk aside when done.
- 3). Examine the wall where the desk was previously attached. Locate any holes in the wall where the screws were inserted to keep the brackets in place. Apply spackling compound to the wall to fill the holes. Use the putty knife to smooth the spackling compound on the wall. Let it dry for a few hours before sanding the spackled areas completely smooth.
- 4). Apply a layer of the wall paint on the spackling, so it matches the overall wall. The color may appear darker upon application, but it lightens as it dries. Apply additional coats as needed.
