    • 1). Press the "Home" button on your iPhone.

    • 2). Tap the "Compass" icon to launch the app.

    • 3). Tap "Settings" if you are prompted to activate Location Services, and then tap the "Location Services" option to "On." Press the "Home" button twice, and then tap the "Compass" icon from the list of recent apps at the bottom of the screen to return to using the Compass.

    • 4). Wave the iPhone in a figure-eight pattern to calibrate it, and continue waving it until the "Calibration" screen disappears. If the iPhone detects magnetic interference in the area, it may ask you to move away and calibrate it again.

    • 5). Hold the iPhone horizontally, so it is level with the ground and with the display facing up. Watch the compass needle rotate until it points North. The direction you are facing appears at the top of the iPhone's screen, and your coordinates appear at the bottom of the screen.

    • 6). Press the "Home" button, and then tap the "Maps" icon if you want to look at a map while navigating. Tap the search field, then type an address or location, and then tap "Search." Tap "Directions" to get directions to your location based on where you are now, as detected by Location Services.
